Unless you change the name.
One of my Civil 3d pet peeves has to do with modifying Civil 3d styles. We all have to make changes to Civil 3d styles, but if you are modifying a company standard style, you really need to change the style name.
I used to work with a fellow would would modify the STANDARD style to be whatever he needed. Then when you would go to bind the files for transmittal, his STANDARD style would now be mine, and the appearance would change. Check out this video to see what I mean.
